Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 enters public testing in April

Microsoft has revealed that Office LTSC 2024 will enter public beta testing in April, eyeing a full launch by the close of 2024. This iteration of the office suite is tailored for users opting for a single-purchase model, offering an alternative to the Microsoft 365 subscription-based service.

Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 enters public testing

The company will do testing for Office LTSC 2024 starting in April. The final version of the apps is expected to see the light by the end of 2024. This version of the office suite will exist alongside the Microsoft 365 subscription product.

Unlike apps in a Microsoft 365 subscription, Office LTSC will not receive new features through updates. Cloud-based features like Microsoft Copilot will not be available in this version. The price for the consumer version of Office 2024 will stay the same. But Office LTSC Professional Plus, Standard, and Embedded  will see a 10% increase in the license cost.

Office LTSC is designed for customers who prefer a one-time purchase option instead of transitioning to the Microsoft 365 subscription model. It is ideal for organizations with devices that cannot receive updates or lack internet connectivity.

Office 2024 features

Office LTSC 2024 will bring several new features compared to its predecessor. Excel will offer dynamic charts and arrays, while Outlook will have improved functions for managing meetings. Microsoft Publisher will no longer be included as it is no longer being developed. Microsoft Teams will need to be separately installed and licensed.
