Microsoft may split Cortana and Windows Search in Windows 10 19H1

A new screenshot of an internal build of Windows 10 shows that Microsoft is planning to separate Windows Search from Cortana in Windows 10 codename 19H1, which should become version 1903.

A tweet from Albatross, known for being the trustful source of internal Microsoft news, reveals a work-in-progress for Cortana. It looks like that Microsoft is about to split Cortana and Windows Search in 19H1, the next feature update for Windows 10.

As shown in the screenshot, Cortana and Windows Search have been separated. The user now able to enable and disable the taskbar icons separately.

Cortana to be separated into its own view, called "Conversation Canvas". This change is expected to improve user experience with the assistant by minimizing content obstruction.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has added Enhanced Mode to Search Indexer to make Windows Search faster and more accurate.

It is not known yet when the change will reach the stable branch of the OS. Microsoft hasn't officially announced it yet and may cancel the feature at any moment.
