Microsoft 365 app changes

The main changes to the Microsoft 365 app experience are as follows.

Title bar removal

The top title bar will be removed. The user profile, settings, and feedback buttons will be moved to the bottom of the left toolbar.

Search box on home page

A new search feature will allow users to search for content across different file types and storage locations from the home page.

Updated left toolbar layout

The apps on the left toolbar will be reorganized at the top, with AI-powered features like Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Copilot Pages placed next to them.

Logo removal

Your organization’s logo will no longer appear in the Microsoft 365 app header, although this change will not affect other apps in the suite.

Navigation changes

The back button in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app will be removed. Instead, users will be able to navigate between pages using the left sidebar in the AppBar.

My Day removal

My Day, which provided quick access to your calendar and to-do list, will no longer be available in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app. This change will not impact other apps in the suite where My Day is still present.

Help me create integration

Help me create, a tool designed to help users create documents using large language models, will now be integrated into the Copilot tab. Users can generate ideas and create content based on text queries directly in the Copilot chat.

Copilot update

The Microsoft 365 app will be renamed Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The app icon will be updated to match the design unveiled at Ignite 2024.

Coming soon, the Copilot section of the Microsoft 365 admin center will be structured into four main sections: Overview, Health, Discover, and Settings.

Overview

The Overview section will provide admins with key metrics and insights into how Copilot is performing, including user activity, AI assistant effectiveness score, total hours of Copilot usage, and user satisfaction.

Health

The Health section will provide details about the current state of Copilot, such as the status of Microsoft 365 app updates, device distribution with diagnostic data, relevant messages from the Copilot message center, and information about any known active issues.

Discover

The Discover section will allow admins to explore Copilot functionality, review user skill requirements, and access a variety of curated resources. These include compliance standards, implementation guidance, the Copilot request library, and other helpful content. This section will also include the option to purchase Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses.

Settings

The Settings section will provide administrators with tools to customize Microsoft 365 Copilot to meet their organization's requirements. Other important areas, such as agent management and data security and compliance settings, can also be accessed from here.
