The preview of Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 is now accessible for both Windows and Mac platforms. Designed for specific use cases requiring long-term servicing channels, such as managed devices, OEM devices without internet access, or medical testing equipment with embedded apps needing to remain unchanged over time.
Office LTSC 2024 will incorporate features from previous Office versions and some new features from Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise. It will be supported for five years under the Fixed Lifecycle Policy, along with the launch of Windows 11 LTSC later this year. Deployment of both Office LTSC and Microsoft 365 Apps within the same organization will be supported using Click-to-Run on Windows and Apple Package format (pkg) on Mac.
The company noted benefits of Microsoft 365 , including its availability, deployment, low cost and AI via Microsoft Copilot. However, Office LTSC 2024 will be a valuable upgrade for customers who need an offline Office suite version.
The preview program includes a range of products for users to try out:
- Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Access)
- Microsoft Office LTSC Standard for Mac 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote)
- Microsoft Project Professional 2024
- Microsoft Visio Professional 2024
A few days ago Microsoft has announced that Office 2019 and Office 2016 will reach their end of support on October 14, 2025. Office 2024 will be in-place replacement for them.
