Microsoft has fixed a bug that prevented KB5034765 from installing in Windows 11

Microsoft has fixed an issue that caused the installation of the February cumulative update KB5034765 for Windows 11 to fail with error code 0x800F0922 and then undo the changes made. The fix was included in the  KB5035853 update released on March 12, 2024.

According to Microsoft, attempting to install the KB5034765 update displays the following message: “Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry – undoing changes. Please keep your computer on." The bug was related to Windows Recovery Environment.

As you may remember, as a temporary solution, Microsoft offered to manually delete the hidden folder C:\$WinREAgent.

WinRE is also related to another bug. In January 2024, Windows 10 KB5034441 update used to fail with a 0x80070643 code due to a huge size of WinRE that didn't fit to its partition. The users saw the message "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later."
