Microsoft has denied rumors that the next-gen Xbox consoles are canceled

Last week, reports circulated online that Microsoft had allegedly canceled the next generation of Xbox consoles. However, Microsoft has come out to deny these rumors, at least for now.

In a statement to Windows Central, Microsoft representatives emphasized that the company continues to "actively invest" in future consoles and devices "designed, engineered, and built by the Xbox team." They also reminded of the recently concluded strategic multi-year partnership with AMD, which includes work on the next-generation Xbox game consoles.

The original source of the rumors was a NeoGAF forum user named "SneakersSO". They reported that Microsoft's plans for future hardware had changed from "very specific" to "vague." The Verge editor Tom Warren, for his part, claimed the author had reliable sources. This gave the information additional credibility. As a result, the online community quickly concluded that the company had abandoned the release of new consoles, although the author had not stated this.

User SneakersSO believes that Microsoft may shift its focus from hardware production to developing its biggest gaming franchises, such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Minecraft, and Forza Horizon, as well as promoting its Xbox Cloud Gaming service and Xbox Game Pass subscription.
