Edge Stable Fluent Big 256 Icon

Microsoft today announced several new features coming soon to Microsoft Edge that enhances your privacy, online safety, and productivity when browsing the web. Here are the key features the browser will receive.

Microsoft Edge is now a Chromium-based browser with a number of exclusive features like Read Aloud and services tied to Microsoft instead of Google.

The stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium is available to the public for a while. The browser has already received a few updates, with support for ARM64 devices in Edge Stable 80. Also, Microsoft Edge is still supporting a number of aging Windows versions, including Windows 7, which has recently reached its end of support. In the near future, Edge will get the following improvements.

Password Monitor

This new feature will check your passwords against a collection of compromised accounts. A similar option can be found in Firefox. Microsoft Edge will inform you if it finds your credentials in the breach database, and will also help you change the password for sites where you use the same username and password pair.

Collections in mobile version

Microsoft has announced that the Collections feature is coming to mobile versions of the browser. It will sync between devices, so the same set of Collections will be available in Microsoft Edge for iOS and Android.

Vertical tabs

A new optional feature, Vertical Tabs, will move the tab bar to the left and turn it into a scrollable list. This will allow you to have more vertical space for web page contents.

Smart Copy

Smart Copy is a new feature that will allow the user to copy and paste content preserving links, and font styles. This ensures that tables, headings, and paragraphs are correctly pasted into a document or email.

There are also improvement made to InPrivate browsing, and Reader mode.
