Microsoft 365 apps will stop working on Windows 10 after October 2025

Users who prefer Windows 10 over Windows 11 will lose access to Microsoft 365 apps. Microsoft will terminate support for them in less than a year. This follows the support scenario for Windows 10, which also reached the end-of-support date in October 2025.

According to the documentation, the end of support for Microsoft 365 for Windows 10 means that installed products will no longer receive new updates. The applications themselves will continue to work as usual. But they will only receive new versions and corrections until October 14, 2025.

Support for Windows 10 will end on October 14, 2025. After that date, if you're running Microsoft 365 on a Windows 10 device, the applications will continue to function as before. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 to avoid performance and reliability issues over time.

It is worth noting that it is not only Microsoft 365 apps. You can expect more and more software vendors will quickly drop support for Windows 10. Eventually, this will include web browsers, the change that is most harmful for a modern home user. So, to keep your software up to date, you will have to get Windows 11, or go with an alternative OS like Linux.

The change is officially announced here.
