March 2022 firmware update is out for Surface Pro 7+, Laptop Go, and Laptop Studio

Microsoft has released March 2022 firmware update to owners of the Surface device family. The updates are now available for Surface Pro 7+, Laptop Go, and Laptop Studio. You will not find new features, as they only include minor improvements and security patches.

The updates are now live on Windows Update. Your device should get them automatically. To speed up the process, you can open the Settings app and check for updates the Update & Security > Windows Update page.

However, keep in mind that you cannot rollback firmware updates on Surface devices. So carefully check the change logs for known issues (if any).

What's new in Surface Pro 7+ March 2022 firmware update

The March 2022 firmware update for Surface Pro 7 Plus addresses critical security vulnerability and improves system stability.

Microsoft did not provide a list of known issues for this release. It is assumed that everyone can update their devices to this firmware version.

March 2022 firmware update for Surface Laptop Studio

Similar to the above release, there are no known issues or new features. The firmware fixes critical security vulnerability and improves system stability. Also, Microsoft pointed out that your device must be running Windows 10 October 2020 Update, version 20H2, or greater to install this update.

Surface Laptop Go March 2022 firmware update

Finally, to install the March 2022 firmware update on Surface Laptop Go, your device must be running  Windows 10 May 2020 Update, version 20H1, or greater. The change log doesn't list known issues. The changes are as follows.

Note that devices have different support Driver and Firmware Lifecycle policy. Surface Pro 7+ will receive updates until January 15, 2025. Surface Laptop Studio is getting new firmware and drivers until October 5, 2025. Finally, Surface Laptop Go will stop receive new firmware and driver versions on October 13, 2024.
