One of the power management features of Windows 10 is the ability to manage battery usage per app. Starting with the Anniversary Update release, Windows 10 allows the user to inspect and manage battery usage by app. Here is how it can be done.

The Battery Usage by App page in Settings will allow you to see a list of apps with the percentage of battery power that each app has consumed. The data is calculated since the last charge. Here, you can allow or prevent the operating system from managing apps and running them in the background when on battery.
Starting with Windows 10 build 16176, Microsoft added a new feature, known as "Power Throttling". When a background app is running, the operating system places the CPU in its most energy efficient operating modes – work gets done, but the minimal possible battery is spent on that task. On the Battery Usage by App page, you can exclude some apps from Power Throttling.
To manage battery usage by app in Windows 10, do the following.
- Open Settings.
- Go to System - Battery.
- On the right, click on the text "Battery Usage by App".
The following page will be opened.
There, you can see the battery usage per app.
Select 6 Hours, 24 Hours, or 1 Week to change the period of time you want to see in the list.
Select Apps with usage, All apps, or Always allowed apps to filter the app list.
Exclude apps from Power Throttling
On the Battery Usage by App page, find the app you want to exclude from Power Throttling.
Select it in the list. A number of options will appear below the app name.
There, disable the option "Managed by Windows".
Once you disable the option, a new check box will appear, "Allow app to run background tasks". Tick it to allow the app to run in the background.
That's it.
