Google has taken steps to remove "pirated" URLs from collections of saved links by users. Over 7 billion requests have been processed under the DMCA law for copyright infringement.
Users started to receive an email notifying them of the removal of links from their "Saved on Google" collection, with Google stating that the links violated their policies.
The company referenced the now-defunct KickassTorrents domain. While some confusion arose regarding synced bookmarks, it was later clarified that the blocks applied specifically to saved links.
TorrentFreak was able to reproduce this issue. Journalists were unable to add to "saved" URLs removed from Google search, such as YouTube Ripper "Yout.com", torrent site "1337x.to", or "Katcr.com".
Blocks apply to individual URLs, not to all domains. For example, thepiratebay.org still appears in Google search results and can be added to the collection. However, de-indexed Pirate Bay links cannot be saved. The old YouTube Ripper 2conv.com homepage cannot be saved as well, but the latest homepage URL (2conv.com/neshq) is available for saving.
