Google Chrome 66 released, here’s everything about it

A new version of the most popular web browser, Google Chrome is out. Version 66 has reached the stable branch and is now available for Windows, Linux, Mac and Android. Sporting a minimalist design, Chrome features a very powerful fast web rendering engine "Blink" to make your browsing experience faster, safer, and easier.

The full browser version is Chrome 66.0.3359.117. The key changes in Google Chrome 66 are as follows.

  • Media autoplay behavior has changed. The browser won't play audio for background tabs any more.
  • It is possible to export your saved passwords to a CSV file.
  • Site Isolation Trial: This feature improves Chrome's security and helps mitigate the risks posed by Spectre. To diagnose whether an issue is caused by Site Isolation, open the following page in a new tab: chrome://flags#site-isolation-trial-opt-out.
  • Chrome 66 will not trust website certificates issued by Symantec.
  • Material Design is now applied to the horizontal scroll bar on devices with a touch screen.
  • You can enable Material Design in modal dialogs by enabling the flag chrome://flags#secondary-ui-md.Modal Dialogs Md
  • Added the ability to search for saved passwords on Android.
  • Tons of JavaScript and CSS support improvements.
  • Also, the browser comes with more than 62 security fixes. Many of the security bugs were detected using AddressSanitizerMemorySanitizerUndefinedBehaviorSanitizerControl Flow IntegritylibFuzzer, or AFL.
