Fix Firefox 27 crashes using these simple instructions

Firefox 27 was recently released and many users faced multiple crashes in the browser. It's annoying to not know what is crashing Firefox, so I decided to write this short post to help you to troubleshot the issue and fix it easily.

First thing you need to check is the Flash Player plugin. As many users reported, a recent update to Flash Player causes the crashes in Firefox. You can be affected by this issue, try to replace the buggy plugin. You have three options:

  • Uninstall the current version and return to an old version of Flash Player. I do not recommend this way, it has a security risk and is potentially dangerous.
  • Upgrade your Flash player to the latest beta version of the plugin. This is what I personally tried and it works like a charm for me. The latest beta can be downloaded from this page: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html
  • Uninstall the Flash plugin (or disable it) in Firefox. For sites which require Flash, use some other browser which has no issues with Flash. Internet Explorer in Windows 8.x has native Flash support and fast content rendering.

Also, here is a general recommendation: disable all add-ons and enable them one-by-one. It is quite possible that some of your add-ons cause the crash in the latest Firefox.
