Some Windows 10 users are experiencing a strange issue with the operating system. Every time they open the Control Panel, two windows of Explorer open instead of a single window which is what's expected. If you have this issue, here is how to fix it easily.
This problem also happens if you open the Control Panel from the Win + X menu. Windows 10 also comes with the Power user menu and includes exactly the same items as Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
Here is why it happens. Due to some bug, Windows 10 opens Control Panel twice if you have enabled the option "Launch folder windows in a separate process" in File Explorer. To fix this behavior, you need to disable that option. Do the following:
- Open File Explorer.
- Click the File button and pick "Change folder and search options":
- Go to the View tab and untick Launch folder windows in a separate process:
That's it. This behavior will probably be fixed in the release version of Windows 10 or even with the next build.
