The next release of Firefox 119 will change how the browser restores a previous browsing session. It will allow you to restore not only open tabs, but also recently closed tabs. The latter will allow you to restore accidentally closed tabs even if you restarted the browser, and view a list of them in Firefox View. By default, the last 25 tabs opened in the last 7 days will be saved. Firefox will save this tab data for each of the previously open windows individually, making the session restore consistent.
Additionally, Firefox 119 will offer a redesigned Firefox View page that makes it easier to access previously viewed websites. The Firefox View page brings together information about active tabs, recently viewed pages, closed tabs, and tabs from other devices in one place.
A future version of Firefox View will provide information about all tabs open in any window, and will also add the ability to view your browsing history sorted by date or site.
For a small percentage of Firefox users, version 119 will have the ability to import add-ons from Chrome and browsers based on the Chromium engine enabled by default.
It will appear in the Import Data wizard on the about:preferences#general page. It currently supports 71 add-ons, which are actually just add-ons that exist for both Chrome and Firefox. If add-ons from the list are present when importing data from Chrome, Firefox installs the native Firefox version instead of the Chrome version of the add-on.
The changes also include performance optimization for sites using the Vue.js 3.0 framework, and an "Insecure" label for HTTP connections.
