Download December 2016 Windows 10 Virtual Machines

Following up their regular release cycle of every two months, Microsoft has once again released updated virtual machines for Universal Windows Platform app developers. These virtual machines include some of the minimum required tools and frameworks for developers to jumpstart creating apps for Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, HoloLens and Xbox One. They are based on Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607).

Just like previous versions, updated VMs are available in both evaluation and licensed variants.

By using the evaluation, you'll get Windows 10 Enterprise which will continue working until April 8, 2017.

And if you need the Windows 10 Pro variant, you should get the licensed variant, but keep in mind that you'll need a Windows 10 Pro key to activate it.

Here's the full list of the tools and other useful developer stuff inside the VMs:

  • Visual Studio 2015 Community Update 3 (Build 14.0.25425.01)
  • Windows developer SDK and tools (Build 14393)
  • Microsoft Azure SDK for .NET (Build 2.9.6)
  • Windows Bridge for iOS (0.2.161107)
  • Windows UWP samples (November 2016 Update)
  • Windows Bridge for iOS samples
  • Bash on Ubuntu on Windows

As always, you can download all of the updated virtual machines from here:
