How to Download and Install the Alpenglow Firefox theme (Radiance)

Firefox 81 will have a new Alpenglow theme, that is also known as "Radiance", but you can install it right now. Firefox 81 is a beta version of the browser as of now, and it is getting a brand new visual theme known as Alpenglow. It follows Windows 10 light and dark modes, and has a different appearance from the current Quantum theme.

Alpenglow is a theme that will become the default browser theme of Firefox 81. Also, it will be available on Mozilla Add-ons web site, so users will able to install and remove it.

Firefox New AlpenGlow Theme Radiance

The theme is pretty and colorful, and consists of mostly the purple and orange colors.

Firefox 81 will promote the new theme over existing users via the about:addons,  andabout:welcome pages, and in the Customize page when you open any of them.

If you like the theme, and want to get it right now, it is easy to download and install it. It is already on Mozilla Add-ons web site.

To Download and Install the Alpenglow Firefox theme (Radiance),

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Navigate to this page: Firefox Alpenglow by Mozilla Firefox.

The official announcement for the theme is also mentions the upcoming GUI changes to the address bar. It will highlight the search engine name in the address bar, and will bring back the ability to pick a different search engine for the current search term you've typed in the address bar. Search mode unifies search engine one-offs and @aliases, says the company.

Firefox 81 Search Bar Improvements

As of this writing, the actual version of the browser is Firefox 80.0.1. Here's its change log, and here you can check out what's new was introduced in the initial Firefox 80 release.

    It looks awful with dark colours enabled in Windows 10. Completely different to how it looks with light colours. Not that the above screenshots show what the theme is supposed to look like.

    Alpenglow is too colorful for me!

    I run most bright themes today. Tired of dark themes.
