As you may already know, Firefox 57 comes with a new UI, known as "Photon". The default appearance of the browser includes a dark blue title bar which doesn't fit the overall look of windows in the OS. Today, we will see how to disable the blue title bar in Firefox to make it look native.
Firefox 57 is a huge step forward for Mozilla. The browser comes with a new user interface, codenamed "Photon", and features a new engine "Quantum". It was a difficult move for developers, because with this release, the browser drops support for XUL-based add-ons completely! All of the classic add-ons are deprecated and incompatible, and only a few have moved to the new WebExtensions API. Some of the legacy add-ons have modern replacements or alternatives. Unfortunately, there are plenty of useful add-ons which have no modern analogs.
The Quantum engine is all about parallel page rendering and processing. It is built with a multi-process architecture for both CSS and HTML processing, which makes it more reliable and faster.
There are two ways to disable the blue title bar in Firefox 57. You can enable the title bar or change a theme. Let's review them.
To disable the blue title bar in Firefox, do the following.
- Click on the hamburger menu button (the last button on the right in the toolbar).
- The main menu will appear. Click on Customize.
- The Customize mode will be enabled. At the bottom, find and enable the check box Title bar.
Voila, the title bar is enabled.
Disable the Blue Title Bar in Firefox with a Theme
- Click the hamburger menu button and click the "Customize" item.
- Click on the "Themes" item at the bottom of the "Customize" pane.
- Click on the Light theme in the drop down list.
By using any of the methods above, you can make your Firefox look native in Windows 10.
It is worth mentioning that the enabled title bar follows the accent color of Windows 10, while the Light theme of the Firefox browser keeps the title bar white.
