Microsoft just rolled out a new update for the Copilot app on Windows (version 1.25034.133.0 and later), and it’s packed with new helpful features like File Search and Copilot Vision. The update is now available in the Microsoft Store for all Windows Insiders, no matter which update channel they’re on. However, Copilot Vision is currently only available to Insiders in the U.S.
File Search
You can now use the Copilot app to find, open, and ask questions about files on your PC. Just head to the Settings section of the app to set permissions for accessing your files. It works with most common file types, like .docx
, .xlsx
, .pptx
, .txt
, .pdf
, and .json
.

For example, you can ask things like:
- “Can you find my resume?”
- “Open the travel plan I worked on last week.”
- “Check my budget file and tell me how much I spent on lunch last month.”
Copilot Vision on Windows
With Copilot Vision, you can share any browser tab or app window with Copilot, and it’ll analyze what’s on the screen. It can answer your questions, suggest ideas, or even explain things out loud. To try it out, just click the little glasses icon next to the text input box, pick the window you want to share, and ask Copilot to help out. When you’re done, hit Stop or the X in the input field to stop sharing.

So, the addition of these two features will allow you to get instant help from Copilot without interrupting your current task.
