Epic Games Store drops support for Windows 7/8 starting in June 2024

Starting June of the current year, Epic Games will cease support for the Windows 7 and 8 operating systems within the Epic Games Store client. A similar move applies to the 32-bit version of Windows 10. As a result, the Epic Games Store will only be compatible with 64-bit Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 10.13 or later. Microsoft intends to extend paid support for Windows 7 until 2026

Earlier in 2020, Microsoft finished extended support for Windows 7. The company expected users and companies to switch to newer versions of OS, but some of them couldn't do that. Microsoft has stopped releasing Windows 7 drivers via Windows Update

If you are still running Windows 7, its time to find some other way to manage drivers. A new official blog post reveals that on June 17, 2021, Microsoft discontinued the publication of drivers to Windows Update for Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2. For customers with the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, it will be still possible to use the ability to deploy drivers to your managed devices using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS_ and other supported methods. Microsoft reminds Windows 7 customers to purchase the second year of ESU coverage

Microsoft had discontinued Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 on January 14, 2020. All SKUs no longer receive updates, except for those customers who purchased Extended Security Updates (ESU). The ESU offer has been available in the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) since April 1, 2019. Microsoft sells ESU in specific 12-month periods, so it is the right moment to pay for the year two.
