Windows Terminal 1.9 preview released with Quake Mode, stable version 1.8 is also available

Here are great news from the Windows Terminal camp. Microsoft released two versions of its modern Terminal app. Version 1.8 is available in the stable branch with general improvements and fixes. Windows Terminal Preview hits version 1.9, which now comes with a brand new feature - Quake Mode.

Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044 references found in KB5003214 Preview update

A few days ago, Microsoft released cumulative update KB5003214 Preview for Windows 10 versions 2004, 20H2 and 21H1, which brought a lot of changes and fixes. However, most interesting things were not announced and aren't visible after installing the patch. The CAB file contains references to the upcoming Windows 10, version 21H2.

Windows 10 touch keyboard is to receive themes support

The next major update for Windows 10, due to release in the second half of this year, will bring tons of new features to the touch keyboard. Windows Insiders can already test some of those improvements, such as GIF support, the updated emoji panel, enhanced visuals, etc. Speaking of visuals, it looks like Microsoft has a few more personalization options coming soon to Windows Insiders.

Microsoft released KB5003214 to Beta and Release Preview Channels

Microsoft today released a new cumulative update for Windows 10, version 21H1, and version 20H2. The update is only available to Windows Insiders. For 20H2, it is available in the Release Preview channel. Insiders running Windows 10 21H1 are getting this patch in the Beta and Release Preview channels.

Internet Explorer is no longer a part of Windows 10

On May 21, 2021, Microsoft released a new build 21387 to Windows insiders in the Dev channel. In terms of new features or changes, that update contains nothing significant. The biggest shift is that Microsoft no longer bundles the good old Internet Explorer with Windows 10. From now on, Windows 10 has only one browser, which is Edge Chromium.

This Friday, Microsoft rolls out Windows 10 Build 21387 to Insiders in the Dev channel. As it was earlier announced, it no longer includes Internet Explorer 11 preinstalled. But to our surprise, yet another feature is now removed from the OS - the Eco Mode option in Task Manager.
