Winaero Tweaker 0.10.2 is out

Here is a new version of Winaero Tweaker. Again, this is a maintenance release, just to quickly fix minor issues spotted by users. Here is what's new.

Version 0.10.2 is a special release adapted to the latest Windows 10 feature update, version 1803 "April 2018 Update".

Winaero Tweaker 0.10.2 includes the following changes.

As you may already know, the HomeGroup feature is now deprecated and was removed from Windows 10 version 1803, so

  • The context menu option "HomeGroup" was removed.
  • The item HomeGroup was removed from the Navigation Pane -> Default items.

Other changes:

  • The option to remove the context menu command "Edit with 3D builder" is now hidden under Windows 10 version 1803.
  • The option "Hide Windows Insider Program Page" had a bug which made it appear as "disabled" regardless of its actual state.

Finally, Winaero Tweaker has got support for "Redstone 5".  If you are running a Redstone 5 build 17661 or above, you'll be able to customize Unix line endings support in Notepad.Winaero Tweaker Unix Line Endings Notepad

I would like to say many thanks to all Winaero Tweaker users. I really appreciate your feedback and support!

Also, many thanks to Twitter user @KB0000001 for his suggestions and reports regarding version 0.10.2.

    1. Sergey Tkachenko Post author

Sure you can. It is possible with several previous releases.

Awesome work! But where is the “StartupSound” option?

    1. Sergey Tkachenko Post author

Damn, I forgot to unblock it! Will release 0.10.3 with that feature soon.

Norton Antivirus online supplied by CenturyLink will stop the installation of Version 0.10.2 is a special release adapted to the latest Windows 10 feature update, version 1803 .
Will you be contacting Symantec to figure out what is wrong?

    1. Sergey Tkachenko Post author

No. I won’t waste my time on Symantec.
They were blocking my AeroRainbow app for no reason.
Their software is just bloated crap.

Latest Windows update doesn’t play well with shortcut arrow replacement: the icon background isn’t transparent but appears white. (The icon I want to use hasn’t changed and worked OK with the preceding Windows version.)

    – reboot file explorer (of course);
    – reboot machine.

    “Classic arrow” is OK, though.

And thanks to the developers for this awesome tweaker!

Please upgrade in the next version 10.03! A command line, which offers the option of “Increasing command lines in Windows 10 context menus!”

It will help a lot because at the moment context submenus can only have 15 lines! Thank you

Can you please look into X-Mouse on 1803? The settings don’t stick and they revert back to disabled on restart.

    Awesome tool! Thanks!

I just got the update have not had a chance to play with it yet, I have been wondering though and thought it would be sweet if winaero tweeker allow the installation of new sound schemes for win10. the stock stuff is pretty lame and it would be cool to have an easy way to install complete sets of new sounds. just a thought , keep up the great work.

Just updated to the new Windows. WinAerotweaker does its thing on most things but at some (apparently random) point, it simply eliminates itself; deletes the .exe and the desktop shortcut. Was able to twice reinstall it — but now, it will not install. Fails with ‘access denied’ error even when the directory has been deleted. On install, some items are copied to the directory — but (I think) it’s the main .exe that won’t copy. Is this some kind of perverted MS ‘protection’ thing?

Never mind — or not — on the post awhile ago about Tweaker suddenly disappearing. Turns out Bitdefender decided it was a threat. Gave it an exemption, re-installed and all is well.

The latest Windows update added back unwanted folders to “This PC,” which do not appear in “Customize This PC.” They are not removable now.

I’m using Windows 10 LTSB Edition, so it’s stil on version 1607 (Redstone 1 a.k.a. Anniversary Update).

-The context menu option “HomeGroup” was removed.
-The item HomeGroup was removed from the Navigation Pane -> Default items.

Is the settings completely removed or only removed for the applicable Windows version (1803 and up)?

    1. Sergey Tkachenko Post author

These options are only hidden in 1803 and above.

      1. Stefan

Thanks for the reply and this software. (Winaero Tweaker perfects Windows 10 for me.)

  19. Boris Park

there is a small bug for the option “Taskbar Visible with Touch Keyboard”.
it creates a DWORD “TaskbarAvoidanceEnabled”, but it should be DWORD “Enable”.

    thanks for this nice tool.

Thank you for this info, I will fix it asap.
