There is a new pane for Date and Time in Windows 10 Build 9926

Like in the previously leaked build 9901, the public Technical Preview Windows 10, build 9926, comes with a new Date & Time pane in Windows 10, which is hidden by default. It only works after you do a special Registry tweak. I would like to share with you how to enable it, so you can try it for yourself.

This article is about a pre-release Windows 10 version. For the actual tweak values applicable to Windows 10 RTM and above, please refer to the following article:

Get the old Windows 7-like Calendar and Date pane in Windows 10

Here is how the current calendar looks when you click the clock:

But the new Date Time Pane in Windows 10 9901 is designed in Modern/Metro style.
To activate it, you need to do the following:

  • Open Registry Editor.
  • Go to the following Registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell

Tip: See how to jump to the desired Registry key with one click.

  • Create a new DWORD value named UseWin32TrayClockExperience and leave its value data as 0. If you already have this value, then just modify its value data to 0. See the following screenshot:
    UseWin32TrayClockExperience
  • Now click the time in the bottom right corner. The new pane will appear on the screen:Date and Time in Windows 10 Build 9926

In the current implementation, it is very slow. Looking at its design, we can see that it is a touch friendly pane and was obviously created to work with touch screens. At this moment, the calendar can be navigated with Tab and Arrow keys. Credits for the tweak go to Whistler4Ever.

  1. The value had to be 1, in order to work for me. (I’m assuming the value is treated as true / false, where 0 would be false and 1 would be true.)
