Microsoft has swapped out Bing's own speed test feature with the Ookla Speedtest widget. This widget enables users to measure their download speed, upload speed, and connection latency.

Back in 2016, Microsoft integrated a tool into the Bing search engine that allowed users to assess their internet connection's speed using the speedtest request. This request opens a widget that provides details on download and upload speeds as well as connection latency.
Now, this same functionality is available through Ookla's Speedtest service. The service exists for almost two decades and is one of the most popular Internet speed tests in the world. Besides the website, it also offers native apps for major desktop and mobile platforms. These days, the company uses servers in various countries and locations in the world to carefully measure the connection's capabilities and provide the user the most accurate measurement.
To access the new tool, Bing users need to input a "test internet speed" or "speed test" request, which will then open the new Ookla widget.
How to test your Internet speed with Bing
- Simply search for "speed test" on Bing.com.
- Then, within the Internet speed test widget at the top of the search results, click the Start button.
- In less than a minute, you will receive the download speed, upload speed, and latency of your internet connection.
- Should you wish to re-run the test, you can click on the 'Rerun' button within the widget.
You are done.
Obviously, Bing will continue to show you search results related to your search query. So it won't be limited exclusively to the Ookla widget. You can pick any other service from the listed link, or do an online research on the subject.
