Microsoft has finally resolved an annoying problem with File Explorer that has been plaguing users for over a year. The issue, which caused the application to unexpectedly open and disrupt attention from other programs, was first reported by numerous users on the Feedback Hub in October 2022. This frustrating bug occurred regularly, every hour, and became a major inconvenience for those using the file manager.
ℹ️ The fix is now part of KB5033375, released on December 12, 2023.
Although Microsoft never officially acknowledged the problem in their support documentation for Windows 11 22H2 or 23H2, it did appear in the release notes for build 23403. The company has now confirmed that the issue has been fixed, although it took them almost a year to fully address the core problem. Initially, a fix was included in the March 2023 Insider preview builds, but it has only recently been made available to all users.
Unfortunately, the saga did not end there. In October 2023, the next Windows 11 update caused new malfunctions in Explorer. However, Microsoft acted swiftly and resolved the issue promptly, ensuring a smoother experience for users.
