Microsoft May Have Lost 400 Million Windows Users in Three Years

Recent reports suggest that Microsoft may have experienced a significant decline in its Windows user base over the past three years, potentially losing up to 400 million users since 2022. This change was highlighted by technology journalist Ed Bott in an article published by ZDNet, analyzing statements made by Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Marketing at Microsoft.

Microsoft Has Officially Announced Windows 11, Version 25H2

Microsoft has announced the upcoming release of Windows 11, version 25H2, with general availability planned for the second half of 2025. This will be the annual feature update following version 24H2. For users currently running Windows 11, version 24H2, the transition to version 25H2 will be seamless - requiring only a single restart.

Windows 11 Build 26120.4520 (KB5060834) Released to Beta Channel

Microsoft is now distributing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.4520 (KB5060834) to users enrolled in the Beta Channel for Windows 11, version 24H2. This update introduces a number of new features, improvements, and bug fixes. Some changes are being rolled out gradually to Beta Channel users who have enabled the option to receive updates as soon as they become available via Settings > Windows Update. Other features will be made available to all Beta Channel users over time.

Microsoft Moves Antivirus and EDR Apps Out of Windows Kernel

Nearly one year after a faulty CrowdStrike update caused widespread system failures across 8.5 million Windows devices globally, Microsoft has announced a strategic initiative to prevent similar incidents in the future. Microsoft Introduces the New Black Screen of Death in Windows 11

In a significant departure from a nearly 40-year visual tradition, Microsoft has announced plans to replace the iconic Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a new Black Screen of Death in future updates to Windows 11. It lacks the famous sad smiley along with the QR code image.
