Vertical Tabs Finally Come to Google Chrome, You Can Try Them Now

Vertical tabs have been one of the most requested features for Google Chrome for many years. Late last year, Google began testing vertical tabs in Canary channel builds. Now, with Google Chrome 145, they've made their way to the Beta channel. The feature is disabled by default and is only available as an optional flag in  chrome://flags.

Microsoft has released out of band updates for Windows 11 to fix shutdown issues

Earlier this week, Microsoft released cumulative updates for supported versions of Windows, which has once again caused problems for users. The patch update KB5073455, released on January 13, 2026, for Windows 11 version 23H2, causes devices with System Guard Secure Launch enabled to restart instead of shutting down or hibernating. Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server have also experienced connection and authentication issues with remote access applications such as Windows Apps, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Windows 365. To resolve these, Microsoft today released unscheduled updates KB5077744 and KB5077797.

Microsoft Edge 144 Stable has been released

Microsoft has released the stable version of Microsoft Edge 144 (144.0.3719.82), which includes several new features, improvements, and bug fixes. It  introduces a new software backend for WebGL on Windows devices lacking a physical GPU. The browser now uses the Windows Advanced Rasterization Platform (WARP) instead of the unsupported SwiftShader. Stability improvements address a crash during local file downloads. Feature names such as "Efficiency Mode" and "PC Gaming Performance Mode" have been renamed to "Power Saver" and "Gaming PC Performance Boost," respectively. And more; here are the details.

Windows 11 Build 26220.7653 (Beta) Updates New Account Dialog with WinUI

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 26220.7653 (KB5074157), to Insiders in the Beta channel. Microsoft has updated the dialog boxes in Settings under Accounts > Other users, adopting the modern WinUI framework and adding dark theme support. Users can now set .webp images as desktop backgrounds through Personalization settings. Copilot suggestions in Click to Do now load instantly, though this update excludes Windows Insiders in the European Economic Area and China. And more.

Microsoft is killing the Collections feature in the Edge browser

It looks like the Microsoft Edge browser will soon lose another feature. This time, the developers plan to discontinue support for the Collections tool, which resembled a notebook, allowing you to save links, images, and notes on a specific topic in one place. A notice about the feature's deprecation was spotted in the Edge Dev Channel preview.
