YouTube has got a new Stable Volume feature to normalize the sound

YouTube now has a new feature called "Stable Volume." It appears under video settings. While it doesn't have a prominent description as of this writing, it must be a normalizer and compressor. Such a feature normalizes the sound volume for entire video, so you don't face big volume jumps for sound events.

It is not clear if artificial intelligence is being used for recognizing and compressing the volume level in the cutscenes. Google is yet to announce the feature, and explain how it works.

The addition of this feature is a welcome change. It ensures consistent sound volume throughout the video. This becomes particularly noticeable when watching videos created by amateur authors who may have combined frames with varying volume levels, causing disruptions in the viewing experience. With this feature, users will no longer have to constantly adjust the volume.

Currently, it is only available in the web interface on YouTube. Its mobile apps lack the option.

In other news, YouTube is working on the new quizzes feature. A new AI-generated quiz will appear after the user has finished watching a video. These quizzes aim to assess how well users have understood the covered topic.
