After adding lots of new major features to the Your Phone app in Windows 10, Microsoft switched its focus on little things that improve the user experience. Not long ago, Your Phone received controls for quick settings, such as do not disturb mode, silent mode, music, and Bluetooth. Now, there is a new connection status indicator that shows whether your phone is connected to the app or not.
A new status indicator is a particularly welcome addition to the Your Phone’s feature set, considering that there are still numerous connection stability issues. Many users complain that the app often drops connection with a phone, and there is no obvious way to know the status. With the latest update, this can be found at a glance. There is a new text label that displays the connection status.
This feature is currently available to a small select group of Windows Insiders. It is not yet known when it will become publicly available.
Your Phone is a stock Windows app that links Android smartphones with Windows 10 computers. It allows you to make and receive calls, get notifications, send messages, mirror a screen, browse photos, contacts, and even stream Android apps to Windows 10.
Your Phone works with all relatively modern Android smartphones running Android 7 and newer. Still, some features require recent hardware and specific software. For example, streaming Android apps to Windows 10 is available on the latest Samsung smartphones only. Also, Your Phone does not work with iOS. Apple’s limitations do not allow Microsoft to create the same integration between Windows 10 and iPhones. Long ago, Microsoft promised to fix this inconvenience, but the company had zero success so far.
The Your Phone app comes pre-installed in Windows 10, but you can also get it from Microsoft Store using this link.
