Microsoft announced the official release of its gaming assistant, Gaming Copilot. It acts as a personal companion who knows what game you're playing and understands your activity within the Xbox ecosystem. It can help you navigate challenging situations, offer tactical advice, and answer questions about your game account, match history, and achievements. The feature is available to players aged 18 and older on Windows PC through Game Bar. It will launch on the Xbox mobile app for iOS and Android in October. Regional availability excludes mainland China.
Setting Xbox Gaming Copilot
On PC, users must have the Xbox app installed. Open Game Bar by pressing the Windows key + G, then select the Gaming Copilot icon in the Home Bar. Sign in with an Xbox account to activate full functionality.

On mobile, download the latest version of the Xbox app, navigate to the Copilot tab, and keep the app open during gameplay for real-time assistance.
Voice Mode for Seamless Interaction
Players can use Voice Mode to interact with Gaming Copilot without pausing gameplay. On PC, two options are available: Push to Talk and Mini Mode.
- Push to Talk allows users to assign a custom key binding in the Hardware and Hotkeys settings for quick voice queries.
- Mini Mode enables users to pin the Copilot widget, minimize it to a small corner, and continue conversations while playing.
On mobile, users activate Voice Mode by tapping the microphone icon in the Copilot tab and speaking their query.
Real-Time Game Awareness
Gaming Copilot recognizes the active game and current in-game context. Players can ask about enemies, NPCs, objectives, or strategies based on what appears on screen. The assistant provides summaries of character backstories, encounter history, and tactical advice.
Personalized Game Insights
The assistant offers recommendations based on a player’s library, play history, and preferred genres. It also tracks unlocked achievements and can suggest next steps to complete pending milestones.

Microsoft continues to refine Gaming Copilot for handheld devices, including the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, scheduled for release on October 16. Further enhancements for Xbox consoles are planned as feedback is collected from users.
