Microsoft introduces a truly native Copilot App for Windows. Version 1.25023.106.0 features a modern, Windows 11-style user interface built using the XAML markup language, offering a more integrated and polished design. The updated app comes with a sidebar that displays Copilot chat history for easy access. The Mica effect is applied to add a sleek, translucent background to windows. The button and context menu appearance feel native, enhancing usability and aligning with Windows 11's design principles.

The new app introduces several customization settings that were absent in the earlier web-based version:
- Users can now choose whether the app launches automatically when their computer starts.
- A keyboard shortcut for quick access to Copilot can be enabled or disabled, providing greater flexibility.
Just a few months ago, Microsoft announced what it called a "native" Copilot app for Windows. However, upon closer inspection, it became clear that the company had simply replaced the PWA (Progressive Web App) version with an application leveraging the WebView2 component , which still relied on the web-based version of Copilot. This latest release resolves those concerns by delivering a fully native experience, offering improved performance and deeper integration with Windows.
The latest version of Copilot is currently available exclusively to Windows Insiders, regardless of the channel they are subscribed to. The update is being deployed gradually through the Microsoft Store , so it may take some time for all eligible users to receive it.
