Windows Subsystem for Android 2306 has been released with several improvements. The 2306.40000.1.0 update brings with it Linux Kernel 5.15.104, Android 13 security updates, and stability fixes for ARM devices. Here are the details.
The update includes enhanced camera compatibility and changes to the taskbar behavior in full-screen mode for easier control using mouse and touch screen. The "Local network" feature has been replaced with "Advanced network settings," allowing Android apps to interact with devices on the local network while respecting Windows Firewall rules and VPN connection settings.
Users can now change the default shared folder, and the subsystem will prompt for permissions when needed. Read-only drives now use EXT4 instead of EROFS, resolving an issue with OneDrive folders not appearing in Android apps.
Also, Amazon has announced that the Amazon Appstore for Windows 11 has moved out of beta and is now available to developers. Amazon has prepared detailed documentation to help developers customize an existing Android app to run on Windows Subsystem for Android.
