Windows 11 versions 24H2, 23H2 and 22H2 receive updates in the Release Preview channel

Microsoft today released updates for Insiders running all supported Windows 11 versions on the Release Preview channel. All the updates includes some new features, and fixes. Some of the new features are a gradual rollout. Here are the details.

Start Menu

Microsoft has made changes to the new account manager in the Start menu, bringing the Sign Out button back into the foreground, which should make it easier to sign out. Switching to another profile still requires opening the extra "..." menu.Start Account Manager Sign Out

Taskbar

Microsoft is introducing the ability to share local files directly from taskbar search results.Search Share Local File

Settings

    • The Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization page has been updated to match the Windows 11 style.Delivery Optimization Settings Design Update
    • On PCs with HDR displays, Microsoft now recommends turning off HDR to save power. The recommendation will start appearing under Settings > System > Power > Power saving recommendations .Hdr Energy Recommendation

Lock screen

Media controls now appear at the bottom of the lock screen when playing media.Media Controls Lock Screen Content

Energy saving

If your device's battery level drops to 20% and you have power saving mode constantly enabled, the system will display a notification prompting you to connect your device to a power source.

Changes available to all users

Open Source Software

Added attributes to credits.txt files for Rust OSS components.

Input Method Editor (IME)

Fixed a memory leak that occurred when closing a window while keyboard focus was set to a drop-down list.

Applications with WebView2

Fixed an issue where WebView2 applications would not recognize input from Xbox 360 and Bluetooth controllers.

IE mode

Fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge would occasionally stop responding when using Internet Explorer mode.

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)

Fixed an issue where there was a discrepancy in data between TCP_INFO_v1 and  GetPerTcpConnectionEstats . The tools used to analyze TCP connection performance are used by file synchronization services. The issue negatively impacted the accuracy of these tools.

Country and Operator Settings Asset

Updated Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles for some mobile operators.

Outlook and other encrypted email applications

Fixed an issue where a PIN was requested every time an encrypted email was opened.

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

Fixed an issue where Work Folders would not sync if Defender for Endpoint was enabled.
