Windows 11 to get new Generative AI page in Settings and Logon Animation

Windows 11 Build 26236 (Canary)  includes a few hidden features that aren't enabled by default. There is now a new Generative AI page in Settings that allows you to allow or deny applications access to generative AI introduced in Windows 11. Another change is a new logon animation that also says "welcome back" instead of just "welcome".

A new hidden “Generative AI” page in the “Privacy and Security” section of the Settings app wasn't announced yet by Microsoft. It is a work in progress, so you have to enable it manually. When enabled, it shows  the history of requests to generative AI for the last 7 days. On the same page, you can configure AI access permissions for each of the installed apps.

Generative AI Page In Settings

Enable the Generative AI page in Settings

  1. Download the ViVeTool from here.
  2. Unpack the downloaded archive to the c:\vivetool folder.
  3. Open a Terminal as Administrator, for example, by pressing Win + X and selecting Terminal(Admin).
  4. In the Command Prompt or PowerShell tab, type the following command c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:51407079 and hit Enter.
  5. Restart your computer to apply the changes.
  6. Open the Settings app, and navigate to Privacy and Security > Generative AI.

New Logon Animation

Microsoft is working on refining the logon experience. A new text, "Welcome back!", now appears on the sign-in screen when you signing in with a Microsoft account. As it is a work-in-progress, it is currently visible alongside the currently used "Welcome" text.

Besides the text change, it also plays a Windows Hello-like animation with a smiley behind the Windows logo. The change looks fresh and more interesting than spinning dots the OS now shows for a decade.

The command that enables the animation is:

c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:42941381
