In the recently released Builds 26120.3576 (Dev & Beta) and 22635.5090 (Beta) , Microsoft has silently added new options to re-arrange the pinned icons in the Start menu. There are new commands in the context-menu of the Start pane to move items to the left, right or top, create folders, and move an icon to an existing folder.

As you can see in the picture above, right-click an item in the Pinned apps section reveals extra options: Move left/right, create folder, etc. There are four of them.
The new items are coming to Insiders in the Dev and Beta channel gradually, but you can enable them right now manually by following the steps below.
- Download the ViVeTool utility from GitHub.
- Unzip the downloaded archive to the c:\ViVeTool folder.
- Open Windows Terminal as Administrator (Win + X > select Terminal (Admin)).
- Now type the command
c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:50472543,50472600
and press Enter. - Finally, restart the operating system.
The Windows 11 Start Menu comes with an updated design. Pinned apps are now organized into paginated sections instead of a single scrolling list, and the live tiles from Windows 10 have been removed , making the menu more static. Additionally, the menu focuses on showing frequently used apps and recent files, with cloud integration for cross-device access. While the design is cleaner and more streamlined, it offers fewer customization options compared to its predecessor.
Microsoft is working to improve its usability. For example, a recent change allow to view all pinned Start apps at once. If the option will bring a vertical list of pinned apps in the Start menu, it will be much simpler and faster to find the one you are looking for, and launch it directly. Besides, the Start menu will be able to arrange apps into categories automatically and group items in the Recommended section.
