Web search by OCR-recognized text
The Photos app now has optical character recognition (OCR) that supports more than 160 languages. The feature was re-released to Insiders in late January.
To use OCR, click the Scan Text button in the image viewer. The app will recognize the text and create a region over the image that will allow you to easily select and copy the text to the clipboard.
This update adds a Search the Web option so you can search for selected OCR text directly from the Photos app.
Quick access to AI-powered editing
The File Explorer context menu now includes options for quick access to AI-powered image editing. You no longer need to open the Photos app to use these features.
Right-click an image in Explorer and select Create with Designer to add formatted text, adjust the composition with object selection, or enhance colors.
You can also use the Erase Object option to quickly remove unwanted elements from your photos or images, while Visual Search with Bing lets you find similar images, related products, and more on the web.
Show subfolders in the Gallery
You can now use filters to customize how the contents of subfolders are displayed in the Gallery section. If you enable the Show subfolders option, you will see all the images and videos from the subfolders, making navigation more convenient.
The Photos app now has a new Copilot button that provides quick access to artificial intelligence. Copilot integration will be available soon.
