An engineering sample of a Lenovo QRD laptop powered by an ARM Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor has been spotted in Geekbench database. Thanks to this new info, we can now see what performance Windows 11 on ARM devices can offer.
Lenovo QRD with Windows 11 on ARM
According to the Geekbench tests, Lenovo QRD with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor scored 1010 points in single-threaded mode and 5335 points in multi-threaded mode. In comparison, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 devices averaged 797 and 3006 points in benchmarks, respectively.
If this data is correct, then the performance of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 in single-threaded mode will be at the level of the Intel Core i5-10210U. As of multi-threaded mode, it comes closer to the Intel Core i7-1165G7.
However, the performance values are still far behind the processors of Apple M1 series.
We recently learned that Qualcomm has an exclusive agreement with Microsoft for Windows on ARM, which is expiring soon. This should allow some competition on ARM laptop market. At least MediaTek known for its work in this direction.
Qualcomm is expected to reveal new SoCs on November 30, and to shed some light what Windows on ARM consumers can expect from currently exclusive hardware vendor.
