Windows 11 Notepad now supports spell checking in stable version of the OS

Since March 2024, is testing spell-checking and auto-correct features in Notepad among Windows 11 insiders. But now, these features are being rolled out to the stable version of the operating system.

Windows 11 Notepad Spell Checker

Spell checking in Notepad works in the usual way - misspelled words will be underlined in red. If you right-click on such a word, you will find the "Spelling" item in the context menu with options for correcting the word. The word will immediately be replaced with the selected one from the that submenu.

Spell checking is enabled for some file types, but disabled for logs and other files typically associated with programming. In the application settings, you can globally enable or disable spell checking, as well as configure the file types for which it will be applied. You can also temporarily disable spell checking for the current file from the context menu.
