Microsoft has confirmed that the current version of the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) does not work correctly on Windows 10 version 22H2. This is not the first issue with this version of the utility. The company previously confirmed that MCT does not run on devices with ARM64 processors.
As a temporary solution, Microsoft suggests downloading an ISO image of the desired operating system version from the official website. You can download them using the official website or with the collection of ISO links here.
The Windows 11 Media Creation Tool, version 26100.6584, released September 29, 2025, may fail on Windows 10 devices. The tool may close unexpectedly without displaying an error message. Microsoft is working on a resolution. The fix will become available in form of the updated Windows 11 Media Creation Tool version, coming in the near future.
Official support for Windows 10 ends today, October 14, 2025. After that, Microsoft will continue to release security updates for the operating system, but through the Extended Support Updates (ESU) program, which requires a fee or subject to certain conditions. To get ESU updates for Windows 10 for consumers, the user have take one of the following steps.
- One-time payment of $30.
- Purchase for 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
- Free when you sync your system settings with your Microsoft account using Windows Backup.
