In addition to Windows 11 Build 25281 in the Dev channel, Microsoft today updated the Beta channel with two new builds, 22623.1180 and 22621.1180. Traditionally, the first one is designed for testing new features, and the latter comes with them disabled. The new features in today's release are improved storage alerts for OneDrive in Settings, Widgets that can finally work without a Microsoft account, and a newer Get Help app with a connection issue troubleshooter.

What's new in both Build 22621.1180 & 22623.1180
Updated cloud storage section in Settings
In November 2022, Microsoft introduced a OneDrive cloud storage info section on the Accounts page in Settings. There you can also find information about the data from Microsoft 365 Apps that is stored in your cloud storage. Starting with this build, attachments in Outlook will be counted inside the active subscription block.
This change is currently not available to all Insiders in the Dev channel. Users may see a storage usage warning, however this will not affect your storage capacity until February 1, 2023. Details about the changes to Outlook and OneDrive can be found at this link.
Widget Improvements
This update to Widgets removes the requirement to sign in with a Microsoft account to use the Widget pane, making it available to all users from now on. Now you can get weather information on the taskbar, pin widgets from your favorite apps, or access a personalized dynamic feed without a Microsoft account.
Troubleshooting Network Issues in 'Get Help'
To help you restore a broken Internet Connection, Microsoft has replaced Network Troubleshooter with a tool in the modern 'Get Help' app. With new APIs that diagnose problems and offer specific recommendations for getting online, the app helps you solve the 30 most common connection problems.
To use the feature, you need the "Get Help" application version 10.2208.2551.0 or later.
Fixes in build 22623.1180
- Taskbar and system tray:
- Fixed an issue where right-clicking some icons in the "Show Hidden Icons" popup would close the popup instead of opening the context menu for that icon.
- Fixed an explorer.exe crash that could occur when trying to load certain application icons.
- "Task View" should no longer appear behind the taskbar when using the tablet-optimized taskbar.
- Fixed an issue resulting in the taskbar not appearing in safe mode when using the new search bar options.
- Task Manager:
- If the "Task Manager" window is too small, then the search field in the window title will collapse into an icon, which, when hovered over, will display a tooltip.
- Fixed several issues with the display of icons and labels when a contrasting theme is enabled.
- Other:
- Fixed an issue where braille devices incorrectly reported no display when using the latest version of braille.
If you are on a build with features disabled by default (build 22621.xxx), then check for updates and agree to install an optional update that will make these features available (build 22623.xxx).
