Paint Adds Project Files and Opacity Control
Project files
The Paint application now supports saving work as editable project files with the .paint extension. Users can access this option through the File menu by selecting "Save as project." The file will retain all layers and elements, allowing users to resume editing at a later time.

Opacity control
A new opacity slider is available for the Pencil and Brush tools. Users can adjust transparency levels directly from the left side of the canvas. Combining opacity adjustments with stroke size enables layered effects during digital drawing.

Snipping Tool Introduces Quick Markup
Snipping Tool now includes a Quick Markup feature accessible via a new button in the capture toolbar or by pressing Ctrl + E. Once enabled, users can select a screen region and immediately annotate the captured area without exiting the selection interface.

The Quick Markup toolbar provides pen, highlighter, eraser, shapes, and emoji tools. Users may re-crop the selection using perimeter grabbers. Additional options include Share, Visual Search with Bing, and Ask Copilot. These actions do not copy the image to the clipboard or auto-save it.

Notepad Gains Local AI Functions on Copilot+ PCs
Notepad now offers AI-powered features: Summarize, Write, and Rewrite, all on devices equipped with Copilot+ hardware. These features use a local model and require no subscription or sign-in.

Users with subscriptions may switch between local and cloud-based models. Currently, these features support English language input only.
