Regular releases of new Windows 11 builds for the Canary, Dev, and Beta channels are expected to resume in early January, once Microsoft engineers return from vacation.

The most recent changes for the Dev and Beta channels are as follows:

  • New features gradually rolling out include Ask Copilot on the taskbar for commercial users with Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses, offering integrated access to Copilot, agents, and search. Agents such as Researcher now provide task progress updates directly on the taskbar, while Agent Launchers enable system-wide discoverability of AI agents registered by Windows apps. Narrator gains enhanced customization for spoken UI element properties, and voice typing with the touch keyboard now shows animations on the dictation key instead of a full-screen overlay. The Discover Windows widget delivers contextual tips and can appear on both the Widgets Board and the lock screen.
  • Additional updates include expanded language support for the Settings Agent, AltGr layer activation for Arabic keyboard layouts, and a simplified Voice Access setup flow. Microsoft temporarily halted the rollout of new taskbar animations to address issues. File Explorer now displays people icons for Microsoft account users, extending the Live Persona Card experience to consumer files.
  • Fixes address taskbar overflow behavior, File Explorer performance and crashes, login screen responsiveness, Adaptive Brightness activation, and Windows Update error 0x800F0922.
  • Known issues affect Agents on the taskbar, Xbox Full Screen Experience compatibility, taskbar autohide behavior, File Explorer rendering, Bluetooth battery indicators, and Click to Do functionality when the Copilot app is not running.
  • A new collapsible toolbar also appears in Paint version 11.2511.281.0 for Canary and Dev Channel users.
