Microsoft has revealed what Window 11 includes for gamers. The company made accent on performance and graphic improvements thanks to features like Auto HDR, Direct Storage, and DirectX12 Ultimate.
Microsoft is advertising Auto HDR as one of the key enhancements Windows 11 has for gamers. This feature, which must be already familiar to some Windows 10 users, makes it possible to run games in standard dynamic range (SDR) with HDR enhancements. You need a display that supports HDR. It significantly improves the images even in games that weren't built for HDR. All you need is to toggle enable the switch in Settings > Display.
Direct Storage is yet another shiny diamond of Windows 11. Direct Storage, initially part of the Xbox software, is a set of API that are optimized for high speed data transfer with modern NVMe storage devices. If a game is using Direct Storage APIs, it will start amazingly fast from your SSD NVME drive.
DirectX 12 Ultimate is the exclusive software component of Windows 11. Microsoft considers it most important part for gaming. It includes brand new features, including Raytracing 1.1, variable rate shading, Sampler Feedback, and more, which will allow developers to create stunning looking images. Also, Microsoft notes that DX12 should reduce resource consumption.
