A few days ago Microsoft started rolling out new widgets for the Windows 10 lock screen, and now the same is coming to Windows 11. Besides the weather widget, the lock screen will display extra sections with traffic, NBA sports, stocks and currency rates. The widgets render the data MSN, and currently do not support customization: You cannot select individual ones to show, only enable or disable the whole set.
The new widget code is available in the Release Preview update, Windows 11 Build 22631.3371 (KB5035942), released on March 21. As of this writing, the Release Preview channel is the only channel to contain new widgets. They do not exist yet in Dev and Canary.
Here's how the widgets look in Windows 11.
However, both features are "rolling out gradually", so there is a high chance that you won't have them in Windows 11 Build 22631.3371 after installing the KB5035942 update.
As usual, you can use the famous ViVeTool app to enable the new widgets right away. Follow the steps below.
How to Enable New Widgets for the Windows 11 Lock screen
- Navigate to this GitHub page and download the ViVeTool zip archive.
- Extract the app to the
c:\vivetool
folder for your convenience. - Now open a new Terminal as administrator. In Terminal, use a PowerShell or Command Prompt tab - both will do.
- Finally, type:
c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:47921515,47921574
, and hit Enter. - Restart the computer restart the computer once you see the Successfully set feature configuration message. The the Lock screen now displays several new widgets.
You are done!
💡 Note: If the new widgets didn't appear, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen, and enable the "Weather and more" for the lock screen background.
The last but not least, the following command disables the newly added widgets and keeps weather only:
c:\vivetool\vivetool /disable /id:47921515,47921574
You need to run it as Administrator, and restart the computer once you see the Successfully set feature configuration message.
That's it.

Hi!
Is this feature is only available in English version of Windows 11? It has successfully enabled for me but there is no option ‘Weather and more’ after restart.
Hello. What is your Windows build number?
It’s build 22631.3371
Quite possible that they made it region-specific.
Hi,
Weather and more are checked in Lock screen, but no widget either after start or after WIN+L.
