Windows 11 Build 28000 (Canary) Identifies Itself as version 26H1

Windows Insiders in the Canary channel are getting Windows 11 Build 28000. In addition to the huge build number jump, the OS displays the 26H1 tag in the About Windows dialog.

Advertisеment

Recently, the branch name from which builds are released changed to BR_RELEASE. This is due to internal operating system development cycles. The Windows Insider team treats these builds the same as builds from the RS_PRERELEASE branch. However, due to the branch change, some features have been temporarily removed from Windows 11 Insider builds. Microsoft plans to bring them back in the future. BR_RELEASE builds do not represent any feature update for Windows 11.
