Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 27891 to Insiders using the Canary channel. Besides a good set of fixes, it comes with a drastic change. The good old PowerShell 2.0 is now a deprecated feature.
What's new in Windows 11 Build 27891 (Canary)
Windows PowerShell 2.0 has been deprecated and removed from Canary builds. Microsoft will give more information about the removal of Windows PowerShell 2.0 in an upcoming update for Windows 11 in the coming months.

Fixes
General
- Fixed an issue where the Reset this PC option in Settings > System > Recovery wasn't working after updating to previous builds.
- Fixed a major issue resulting in the taskbar not applying the Acrylic effect in recent flights. This issue also impacted other components, resulting in some UI elements appearing black or white.
- Fixed a major issue causing Windows Update downloads to get stuck at 2% for some Insiders.
- Fixed an issue where in some languages, including Vietnamese and Arabic, certain characters (outside the A-Z range) weren't displaying correctly for Insiders, resulting in gibberish in places like Task Manager.
File Explorer
- Fixed an issue where when opening the "..." menu in File Explorer's address bar to display a list of folders in the current location, the drop-down list could be cut off and the bottom portion would not be selectable.
Settings
- Fixed an issue that could cause the Settings app to crash when opening microphone properties under Settings > System > Sound.
- Fixed an issue related to Bluetooth that could cause the Settings or Quick Actions apps to crash on launch for some Insiders.
Windows
- Fixed an issue where the window minimizing animation was not displayed correctly in the previous build.
Task Manager
- Fixed an issue where the CPU graphs on the Performance page were still using old CPU usage calculations.
- Fixed an issue where after adding a new "CPU Load" column, you might notice that the load for the "System Idle" process always had a value of 0.
Audio
- Fixed an issue where all system sounds (such as notification sounds and the sound when you tap the volume slider in quick settings) could stop working, even though audio playback otherwise worked correctly.
Other
- Fixed an issue where fonts in some application menu items would appear corrupted or characters would overlap. This issue also affected typing in Word - when typing in Hebrew, a period might unexpectedly display as a 3, and when typing in Thai, a space might display as a 2.
- Fixed an issue where the playback controls in Media Player could become corrupted in recent flights.
- Fixed an issue where LDAP queries from applications would take an unexpectedly long time to complete in the previous build.
- Fixed an issue where the print preview might appear slightly blurry in previous builds.
Known issues
General
- [Important note for Copilot+ devices] If you are upgrading to the Canary channel from the Dev, Release Preview, or Stable channels on a Copilot+ device, you will encounter an issue using your PIN or biometrics when attempting to sign in. You will see the error "Something went wrong, your PIN is not available" with the code 0xd0000225. To reset your PIN, click the "Set up PIN" button.

- [New] Investigating an issue that may cause the Settings app to crash when interacting with settings under Settings > System > Power & battery.
Remote Desktop
- [New] In this build, you may experience significant graphical corruption and rendering issues when using Remote Desktop on machines with an ARM64 processor.
