Windows 11 Build 27823 (Canary) includes improvements for Explorer and Settings

Windows 11 build 27823 is now avaialble to Insiders in the Canary channel. It includes several fixes for File Explorer, and various improvements made to Settings, login screen, printing, and a few more.

Changes and improvements

General

    • This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.

Fixes

File Explorer

    • Fixed an issue where the File Explorer window might appear blank or not appear at all when restoring from a minimized state using the Alt + Tab hotkey.
    • Fixed an issue where the More Info (...) menu in the toolbar would open in the wrong direction when using screens with certain resolutions.
    • Extended support for text scaling has been implemented in Explorer, the Open and Save dialog boxes, and the file copy window. Text scaling is configured in Options > Accessibility > Text Size.

Input

    • Fixed an issue that could cause ctfmon.exe to crash when copying content from certain applications.
    • Fixed an issue where the GetRawInputData function would sometimes fail unexpectedly when reading data, producing a "lastWin32Errror invalid handle error".

Login screen

    • Fixed an issue where clicking the Sign-in options link would cause a crash for some Insiders.

Settings

    • Fixed an issue that could cause the Settings app to crash when interacting with Bluetooth & Devices > Cameras.
    • Fixed an issue where an unexpected amount of empty space would appear at the top of the Settings > System > Sound page and some other pages.

Print

    • Fixed an issue where non-administrator users could not delete printers they had added.
    • Fixed an issue where some Insiders might see a message stating that the OneNote print driver is not working.

Other

    • Fixed an issue where some apps would not install on builds 27813 and later.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing a GSOD with the UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR error when updating or clean installing recent builds.
    • Fixed an issue where some pixels could sometimes be inverted when using the CopyPixels function.
    • Fixed an issue seen in recent Canary channel builds where traffic routing would not work correctly when network adapters were connected.

Known issues

General

    • [Important note for Copilot+ devices] If you are upgrading to the Canary channel from the Dev, Release Preview, or Stable channels on a Copilot+ device, you will encounter an issue using your PIN or biometrics when attempting to sign in. You will see the error "Something went wrong, your PIN is not available" with the code 0xd0000225. To reset your PIN, click the "Set up PIN" button.
    • [New]  The "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggle is not displayed correctly and sometimes turns off on its own. This is a visual issue that will be fixed in future builds.

Taskbar

    • Working to fix an issue where taskbar icons don't expand as much as they should when using your PC in tablet mode.
