Windows 11 Build 27808 (Canary) changes how Task Manager calculates CPU usage

Microsoft today released Windows 11 Build 27808 to Insiders in the Canary Channel. Besides a good set of fixes, it makes the Task Manager calculate CPU usage more accurate. The new method also makes it show the same value as third party apps usually show. Finally, there is an updated Store app.

Changes and improvements

Task Manager

Microsoft is rolling out a change to the way Task Manager calculates CPU usage on the Processes, Performance, and Users pages. All pages will now use standard metrics to display CPU usage, which is consistent with industry standards and third-party tools. To ensure backward compatibility, a new optional CPU Usage column is available on the Details tab (hidden by default), displaying the previous CPU value used on the Processes page.
