What's new in Windows 11 Build 27774 (Canary)
General
- This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.
Installing Windows
- When you install Windows from installation media, you will see a confirmation dialog box when formatting or deleting partitions.
Protecting the Administrator Account
- You can now enable the Administrator account protection feature in the Windows Security app under Account protection. This allows users to enable this feature without the help of IT administrators. This also allows users of Home editions of Windows to enable administrator account protection. Changing this setting requires a restart of Windows.
- With Administrator Account Protection enabled, the elevation prompt for untrusted and unsigned apps will appear with expanded color zones that extend to the app description.
Fixes
General
- Fixed an issue where window borders painted in an accent color would not appear when the feature was enabled. Additionally, shadows would not appear and window opening animations (and other animations) would play even if animations were disabled in system settings.
Other
- Fixed a major issue resulting in the Xbox app occasionally launching with a "Please try again" error in the previous two Canary Channel builds.
Known issues
General
- [Important note for Copilot+ devices] If you are upgrading to the Canary channel from the Dev, Release Preview, or Stable channels on a Copilot+ device, you will encounter an issue using your PIN or biometrics when attempting to sign in. You will see the error "Something went wrong, your PIN is not available" with the code 0xd0000225. To reset your PIN, click the "Set up PIN" button.
- [New] Working to fix an issue that is causing the team
SFC /scannow
to report errors on every launch.
File Explorer
- If you open the Explorer window and minimize it, it may not display correctly when you restore it.
Remote Desktop
- [New] Using MTSC.exe to connect to a remote desktop may cause the application to crash with error 0×80080005. As a workaround, you can run MTSC.exe as an administrator.
