Microsoft today released Windows 11 Build 27768 to Insiders in the Canary channel. It includes some quality-of-life improvements, allows creating new folders from Navigation Pane, and changing time zone settings for standard user accounts.
What's new in Windows 11 Build 27768
General
- This update includes a small number of improvements and fixes designed to improve the overall experience of the operating system.
File Explorer
- Added a "New Folder" option to the context menu that appears when you right-click on a location in the navigation bar.
Settings
- The ability to change time zones is again available for regular users (non-administrators) under Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time.
Fixes
File Explorer
- Fixed an issue where the date and time in file properties would unexpectedly update after copying files.
- Fixed an issue where File Explorer would sometimes lose focus on the search field while typing.
- Fixed an issue where performing a search could cause the search to repeat unexpectedly.
- Fixed an issue where the icons in the Details panel would not respond correctly to theme changes, making it difficult to tell whether you had switched from dark to light theme or vice versa.
- Fixed a black flash in Explorer that appeared when duplicating a tab.
Input
- Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor could sometimes move jerkily.
Graphics
- Fixed a major issue where colors in some games could appear oversaturated when using Auto HDR.
Other
- Fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing a GSOD with the code PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
Known issues
General
- [Important note for Copilot+ devices] If you are upgrading to the Canary channel from the Dev, Release Preview, or Stable channels on a Copilot+ device, you will encounter an issue using your PIN or biometrics when attempting to sign in. You will see the error "Something went wrong, your PIN is not available" with the code 0xd0000225. To reset your PIN, click the "Set up PIN" button.
- Engineers are investigating reports that window borders painted in an accent color do not appear when the feature is enabled. Additionally, shadows do not appear, and window opening animations (and other animations) play even if animations are disabled in the system settings.
- [New] Working to fix an issue that is causing the team
SFC /scannow
to report errors on every launch.
File Explorer
- [New] If you open a File Explorer window and minimize it, it may not display correctly when you restore it.
